
The Czech Republic provided financial humanitarian assistance for China in the amount of 2 millions CZK. This humanitarian assistance was used for eliminating the destructive consequences of earthquake in Sichuan province in southwest China.
The first part of assistance was provided in form of supply of medicaments (700 000 CZK). This assistance was ensured in cooperation with Ministry of Health and transport to China was carried out on Sunday 18 May 2008 as a part of flight of delegation of the Czech Republic.
Next part of humanitarian asssistance in form of 9 pcs of tents S-65 was realized in cooperation with Monitoring and Information Centre (MIC) of European Union on Friday 23 May. This assistance was ensured by Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic. Transmission of this material was carried out in Frankfurt am Main and then trasported to China by Chinese airlines.
In China, this material was handed over to Chinese Red Cross. The total amount of this material humanitarian assistance reached 1 082 880 CZK.
Na mimořádnou služební cestu byli vysláni příslušníci Hasičského záchranného sboru České republiky: kpt. Ing. Miroslav Lukeš (HZS Karlovarského kraje, velitel jednotky), prap. Jaroslav Slunéčko (HZS hl.m. Prahy) a Ivan Čerman (ZLO – sklad Velvary). Pro transport uvedené humanitární pomoci bylo využito nákladního vozidla Mercedes Atego ZLO, skladu Velvary.
Jednotka se po úspěšném vykonání úkolu vrátila zpět do Prahy ještě téhož dne v nočních hodinách.
