Slovenia - floods - August and September 2023

Slovenia activated the Mechanism in response to the floods that hit Slovenia due heavy rain on 6 August 2023 requesting excavators, bridges and helicopters. Several member states, including the Czech Republic, offered help. The Czech Republic offered three heavy pontoon bridges on 7 August 2023. Slovenia immediately accepted the offer.
the Hlučín Rescue Unit of FRS CR and the Army of the Czech Republic deployeda reconnaissance group to the site to assess the most suitable locations for unloading and construction of all three bridges. The reco group was on site from 16 to 17 August 2023, in cooperation with representatives of the Slovenian Civil Protection.
The bridges were then prepared by the Administration of State Material Reserves (ASMR), the transportation was ensured by the Hlučín Rescue Unit of FRS CR, and the actual construction in the affected places, i.e. Črna na Koroškem, Mežica and Ljubno ob Savinji, was ensured by the Army of the CR. Each bridge was transported separately, on 3 - 4, 8 - 9. and 15 - 16 September 2023.
